CUSTOMER REVIEWS
This potato head is slightly smaller than original Mr. Potato Head. That in itself is not a huge deal, however, I found that the parts were more difficult for the kids attach to the smaller potato when they had both size potatoes to work with. The accessories that come with this tub do work with either size potato, but, like I said, they're more difficult to fit into the smaller potato. And like others have said, it would have been nice if it came with more than one nose. I purchased this to add to an existing collection of parts and potatoes, so it wasn't a huge deal for me, but if you're only getting this set for a child, it won't be as easy to vary your creations.

This set comes with a lot of colorful and fun pieces. My son loves Mr potato head and at the sale price I hit it out of the park with this item. My son is almost three and Mr Potato head is one of his favorite toys. We needed more pieces versus the tato head himself so this bucket was great. I highly recommend it.
Angie M. - November 28, 2013
Purchased this item for my two year old. I figured it would be cheaper quality than the original and it is. The pieces do not go in and out very easily. I have to play with her and help her move the pieces around. Sometimes it's challenging even for me to push them in or pull them out. I like that it has extra pieces to make it more fun, but they are limited. Lots of sets of eyes but only has one hat, one set of shoes.

Bucket is smaller than anticipated. Disappointed with the price paid for amount of product. Wish this would have had more assescories or a lower price. I've come across this product for half the price on other sites. Ya win some and ya lose some. Better than nothing I guess.
Rino Mendoza - November 29, 2016
This was a pretty good purchase. I cant complain with the quality. I wish all of these types of toys were interchangable... but for the price- the assorted options arent bad

My daughter is in love with Mr. Potato Head so we got her this bucket. It is a cute collection of add ons however it is more difficult to insert the pieces in this one as compared to the original Mr Potato Head. Since she isn't quite 3 yet we do have to assist with getting the pieces in (and some even we have trouble with) whereas her original Mr. Potato Head she could quietly play by her self.
Jessica Floerke - June 14, 2017
The parts are too hard to put in even for an adult! I have to help my 3yo with it while it was supposed to be a toy for her to play herself since she knows the drill very well.
ByCarie - March 16, 2017
Mr. Potato head is my daughters favorite fine motor skill toy.The different mouth and eye expressions really helps with learning different feelings one may have. The actual potato is nice and sturdy, he is not soft or difficult to hold. The pieces go into each hole easily without much struggle. The pieces also stay in with no problem as well. Which is nice when my daughter is tossing it around in excitement. But, if she wanted to change a piece out, she has no problem pulling it out.Over all, this product is really nice, we really enjoy playing with it.

The History and Social Influence of the Potato

Cambridge University Press. 1985 gbs preview - Playskool Mr. Potato Head Super Spud

First published in 1949, this remarkable book is the culmination of a life-long study of every aspect of the potato. Dr Salaman is concerned first with the history of the potato as a member of the botanical genus Solanum, its adaptation by man as a cultivated plant, and the record of its spread throughout the world; secondly he considers the influence the potato has exerted upon the social structure and economy of different peoples at different times. The archaeological and anthropological evidence for the early significance of the potato among the peoples of Latin America is discussed in detail with numerous illustrations, but the central portion of the book is concerned with the European, and particularly the Irish evidence. Naturally the Great Hunger is the most dramatic single episode in the entire work, and Dr Salaman does full justice to his tragic theme, concluding with the observation that in Ireland 'the potato ended in wrecking both exploited and exploiter'. Elegantly written, with numerous vivid anecdotes, Salaman's History has long enjoyed the status of a classic. This revised impression, with a new introduction and emendations by Professor J. G. Hawkes, enables another generation of readers to sample what Eric Hobsbawm has referred to as 'that magnificent monument of scholarship and humanity'.
