Shake the magic rattle, and watch Pooh take a ride on his turtle friend.

This was a fun toy for my son to play with, the rattle is not needed to make noise to make the turtle move, my son would just clap his hands. This toy encouraged hand and eye coordination.

This is an adorable toy WHEN you can get it to work properly. This was purchased as a gift for my 1-year-old granddaughter. The first one Amazon sent me was obviously used and didn't work at all (huge disappointment on Christmas Eve). They promptly replaced it (return procedure is GREAT!). The new one works with the following exceptions: (1) It has no sensor to tell it to change directions when approaching an obstacle. Therefore, it runs into walls, furniture, your feet, etc. (2) You have to hold the rattle at just the right distance/angle to get the thing activated. (3) It will not work on our carpet AT ALL (granted, we do have pretty thick pad).Granddaughter loves it, so we're having to work around the problems. It sings 3-4 different songs and all are catchy and cute (i.e., not quite as annoying as some toys can be).

My 1 year old loves this toy! Pooh sings and turtle moves. I thought it would go faster and it does not go on carpet. Otherwise its a good interactive toy. She learned really fast that she had to shake the rattle to make him go which is a good learning experience. When you do not use it for a little while pooh says goodbye you have to press his foot to activate him again then you can shake the rattle. Overall its a great toy, very Cute!!!

This is cute but it is activated by shaking the rattle that comes with it. You have to shake it very hard to get it to move. Sometimes I could not even get it to move myself let alone a baby being able to do this. The concept is cute and the music is nice but I was disappointed by the effort required to get this to move. Its now in the toy box and has not been bothered with for quite sometime.

I now have purchased three of these toys for my two grandchildren and a child of a friend. Each of the children have found this toy to be fun especially where they can use the rattle to make Pooh and Turtle go. The voice is so clear and the toy is fun to watch for long periods of time. Children really love this toy and can be found carrying it from room to room.

I purchased this toy for my friend's one year old son. It quickly became his favorite toy. Pooh is adorable, and the toy holds the interest of the child. The toy is affordable, durable, and entertaining. Even though he is only one year old, my friend's son was still fascinated with Pooh riding around on his turtle.

My newborn daughter) received this for Christmas. Within 1 hour of me using it (she's too young to hold a rattle), it stopped moving. I've got clean, level, recently installed hardwood floors. It couldn't have been run on a better surface. However, the wheels seem to be hitting the toy casing and not able to turn.
Frank Garriel - December 25, 2006
It's a good idea to make a sound-controlled toy. But it's not so perfect. It's noisy for young babies and the surface of the toy is not so soft.

A Book of American Martyrs

HarperCollins. 2017 gbs preview - Magic Rattle 'n Ride Pooh

“Oates’ American saga captivates because it exists within an actual drama playing out across the country...Martyrs is a graceful and excruciating story of two families who do not live very far apart, but exist in different realities. ” --USA Today, 4-star review “Successful because [Oates] refuses to satirize or dehumanize anyone, even murderous foes of abortion...With its wrath and violence, A Book of American Martyrs offers this teaspoon of warmth in these troubled times: that it is possible to be wrong without surrendering your humanity.” --Los Angeles Times “The most relevant book of Oates’s half-century-long career, a powerful reminder that fiction can be as timely as this morning’s tweets but infinitely more illuminating.” --Washington Post A powerfully resonant and provocative novel from American master and New York Times bestselling author Joyce Carol Oates In this striking, enormously affecting novel, Joyce Carol Oates tells the story of two very different and yet intimately linked American families. Luther Dunphy is an ardent Evangelical who envisions himself as acting out God’s will when he assassinates an abortion provider in his small Ohio town while Augustus Voorhees, the idealistic but self-regarding doctor who is killed, leaves behind a wife and children scarred and embittered by grief. In her moving, insightful portrait, Joyce Carol Oates fully inhabits the perspectives of two interwoven families whose destinies are defined by their warring convictions and squarely-but with great empathy-confronts an intractable, abiding rift in American society. A Book of American Martyrs is a stunning, timely depiction of an issue hotly debated on a national stage but which makes itself felt most lastingly in communities torn apart by violence and hatred.

A Sudden Country

Random House. 2007 gbs preview - Magic Rattle 'n Ride Pooh

A vivid and revelatory novel based on actual events of the 1847 Oregon migration, A Sudden Country follows two characters of remarkable complexity and strength in a journey of survival and redemption. James MacLaren, once a resourceful and ambitious Hudson’s Bay Company trader, has renounced his aspirations for a quiet family life in the Bitterroot wilderness. Yet his life is overturned in the winter of 1846, when his Nez Perce wife deserts him and his children die of smallpox. In the grip of a profound sorrow, MacLaren, whose home once spanned a continent, sets out to find his wife. But an act of secret vengeance changes his course, introducing him to a different wife and mother: Lucy Mitchell, journeying westward with her family. Lucy, a remarried widow, careful mother, and reluctant emigrant, is drawn at once to the self-possessed MacLaren. Convinced that he is the key to her family’s safe passage, she persuades her husband to employ him. As their hidden stories and obsessions unfold, and pasts and cultures collide, both Lucy and MacLaren must confront the people they have truly been, are, and may become. Alive with incident and insight, presenting with rare scope and intimacy the complex relations among nineteenth-century traders, immigrants, and Native Americans, A Sudden Country is, above all, a heroic and unforgettable story of love and loss, sacrifice and understanding. From the Hardcover edition.
