CUSTOMER REVIEWS
This thing is so awesome!!! It is really cute, has a lot of detail and feels VERY solid! It doesn't feel like a cheap piece of junk or like it'd easily get bent. It has some weight to it. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and this silly conversation piece really makes opening junk mail relatively fun xDThe ONLY thing that surprised me, which isn't even a negative, simply a surprise.. is that it's smaller than I gathered from the picture. The actual Griffindor sword holder is about 5 1/2 inches off the table and with the sword in place, it totals at a lil over 9 inches. But it honestly feels like an appropriate size.

Sadly, I'm probably going to return this letter opener. It's beautiful and has heft to it, BUT there are 2 things that really annoy me about this item:1) As a right-handed person, since the feet holding the sword is on the left when I am facing the "GRYFFINDOR" side (the front), I have to reach over to get it out of the feet holder. Very cumbersome. It should had been reversed, the back should have been made the front.2) The letter opener/sword itself is DULL! It made opening letters a lot of work. I just don't have time to put up with it. I went back to my old plastic letter opener. As I said this product looks awesome in real life, but it's not practical.
MovieGoer - April 14, 2016
I ordered this as a Christmas gift for someone I often write letters to. I know that the product description gives dimensions, but without anything to really compare it to, I thought it would be smaller than it is. I was quite pleased with how sturdy and large it actually is. The detail on the sword is great, and the metallic parts look nicely made. The sword fits well into the Lion's "hands" or paws or whatever you want to call them. The base is less round than I thought, so expect more of an oval and a flatter object than is really shown. Despite that difference, I absolutely love this item and can't wait to give it as a gift.

I haven't yet tried this as an actual letter opener yet (I bought it more for the aesthetics), but it is a wonderful addition to my desk. I love the detailing of the model, and the ability to remove the small Gryffindor sword. The whole thing feels satisfyingly hefty and substantial, and well made.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my friend that is a hard core Harry Potter fan. I looked at a lot of Harry Potter merchandise and wasnt really finding anything that would suit her but when i saw this i immediately bought it. When it came in the mail it was packaged perfectly and kept safe so that it was unharmed and shining bright and perfectly. My friend LOVED it and she had never seen anything like it before (which is saying a lot because she owns a lot of Harry Potter items.) This is durable, attractive, and useful all the while providing a fan of the Harry Potter movies with something that they can look at and use every day as a reminder of something they love.

I had been wanting this for awhile, and finally decided to buy myself a present. 🙂 It's excellent quality and looks great in my office. My only complaint is that it's really dull. I haven't had this style letter opener, and I suppose it'd be dangerous to make the edge sharp, but sometimes I have trouble opening letters with it. My cheap opener that has a razor in it works better. But, this one looks great and is fun to use, so I still highly recommend it. Also, this was $50 at the Harry Potter exhibit, so this price is reasonable. 🙂

LOVE IT! I USE IT EVERY DAY. WORKS GREAT.

I've wanted this for the longest time! Finally bought it like a sucker bc when I looked, it said there were only 3 or so left. The sword is pretty dull as a letter opener but it still works. The Gryffindor name is a sticker around the statue though and there was a sticker saying Made in China. I do love the intricacies of the sword and Lion! I don't regret my purchase.

Some of the animals featured in the A-Z you will have already met in the existing Harry Potter books: for example Hippogriff, Flobberworm, Kappa - others you certainly won't: read on to find out exactly what a Chizpurfle is, why there are so few Erumpents, or why one should always beware of the sinister Lethifold…As Albus Dumbledore says in his introduction, this set text book by Newt Scamander has given the perfect grounding to many a Hogwarts student. It will be helpful to all Muggles out there too… On reading the book you will also find that Harry, Ron and (in one instance) Hermione - couldn't resist grafittiing the book, and adding their own personal hand-written opinions. Did you know that : there are 700 ways of committing a foul in Quidditch? The game first began to evolve on Queerditch Marsh? What Bumphing is? That Puddlemere United is oldest team in the Britain and Ireland league? (founded 1163) All this information and much more could be yours once you have read this book: this is all you could ever need to know about the history, the rules - and the breaking of the rules - of the noble wizarding sport of Quidditch.
