Well you can't really get Chandler without getting Joey and nicely with these two you also get as a bonus their other two roommates, the duck with Joey and in this case the chick, being held by Chandler. Of course in the episode titled The One With a Chick and a Duck, Joey buys Chandler a live baby chicken because they are on sale after Easter. Funko figures certainly look better when they are holding something and this figure with Chandler and his present looks great!Although slightly less of a resemblance to Matthew Perry who played the character on TV, than the joey figure achieves compared to Matt Leblanc, this pop vinyl still has a good resemblance to the actor. Funko Figures aren't supposed to look exactly like the character from the movie/TV show they are from anyway, they all share the same look of a wide oversized head, with black eyes, the same nose and no mouth. So they're basically the Funko character dressed as the movie or in this case TV character.Chandler stands up on his own no problem at all. Paint blemishes are always going to be an issue with these figures and it's going to be a bit of gamble unfortunately to where they appear on the figure you get. Even if you buy your Funko figures from physical stores there's often blemishes on the back you can't see without opening the packaging, although the packaging is well designed to be opened without damaging it so you are seeing more and more people asking the staff if they can open them and show them the figure before purchasing. Sometimes though you can get really lucky and the pop vinyl can be pretty much blemish free. The box is great packaging that I really wish other figure manufacturers would learn from. As I said you can open the box, slide out the blister and remove the figure without damaging the box at all. There isn't even any tape or anything to cut. Then you can put the figure back inside if you decide to display it that way. You can view the figure from the front and one side of the box through the clear window. On the back of the box are the five other characters from Friends as Funko figures released at the same time. The boxes stack well on top of each other too, that's why it's great you can change your mind at how you want to display these Funkos.

Great gift for Friends fans.

Bought with rest of the cast for my 9 year old's birthday. He is a huge fan of the show. I had purposely tried to keep him from realizing these even existed so they'd be a total surprise. One day we were even looking through Funko's website to see all the different options and I purposely skipped the page Friends was on so he wouldn't see them. It worked. When he opened these his first words were, "I didn't think they even made Friends figures!"

Daughter loved this and it was delivered on time and with no hassle.

I'm a moderate funko fan and a huge Friends fan so was happy when this series launched. I think of the 3 male-character funkos this one is most accurately representative of the character- i.e. looks like Chandler while Ross and Joey don't as much. Duck is cute and it's a cute Funko overall.

Chandler was true first to arrive and I was pleased with the item. The box was not damaged whatsoever and it appeared as if I had bought it at a store. Great quality and arrived quicker than expected.

Gay TV and Straight America

Rutgers University Press. 2017 gbs preview - Friends - Chandler Bing

After decades of silence on the subject of homosexuality, television in the 1990s saw a striking increase in programming that incorporated and, in many cases, centered on gay material. In shows including Friends, Seinfeld, Party of Five, Homicide, Suddenly Susan, The Commish, Ellen, Will & Grace, and others, gay characters were introduced, references to homosexuality became commonplace, and issues of gay and lesbian relationships were explored, often in explicit detail. In Gay TV and Straight America, Ron Becker draws on a wide range of political and cultural indicators to explain this sudden upsurge of gay material on prime-time network television. Bringing together analysis of relevant Supreme Court rulings, media coverage of gay rights battles, debates about multiculturalism, concerns over political correctness, and much more, Becker's assessment helps us understand how and why televised gayness was constructed by a specific culture of tastemakers during the decade. On one hand the evidence points to network business strategies that embraced gay material as a valuable tool for targeting a quality audience of well-educated, upscale adults looking for something "edgy" to watch. But, Becker also argues that the increase of gay material in the public eye creates growing mainstream anxiety in reaction to the seemingly civil public conversation about equal rights. In today's cultural climate where controversies rage over issues of gay marriage yet millions of viewers tune in weekly to programs like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, this book offers valuable insight to the complex condition of America's sexual politics.

Friends Characters

Books LLC, Wiki Series. 2010 gbs preview - Friends - Chandler Bing

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Pages: 38. Chapters: Characters of Friends, Phoebe Buffay, Rachel Green, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing, Monica Geller, Ross Geller. Excerpt: The American television sitcom Friends featured six main cast members throughout its run, with numerous characters recurring throughout the ten seasons. The main cast members were familiar to television viewers before their roles on Friends, but were not considered to be stars. Series creator David Crane wanted all six characters to be equally prominent, and the series was lauded as being "the first true 'ensemble' show." The cast members made efforts to keep the ensemble format and not allow one member to dominate; they entered themselves in the same acting categories for awards, opted for collective instead of individual salary negotiations, and asked to appear together on magazine cover photos in the first season. The cast members became best friends off screen, and one guest star, Tom Selleck, reported sometimes feeling left out. The cast remained good friends after the series' run, most notably Cox and Aniston, with Aniston being godmother to Cox and David Arquette's daughter, Coco. In the official farewell commemorative book Friends 'Til The End, each separately acknowledged in his/her interview that the cast had become his/her family. In their original contracts for season one, each cast member was paid $22,500 per episode. The cast members received different salaries in the second season, beginning from the $20,000 range to $40,000 per episode. Prior to their salary negotiations for the third season, the cast decided to enter collective negotiations, despite Warner Bros. preference for individual deals. The actors were given the salary of the least paid cast member, meaning Aniston and Schwimmer had their salaries reduced. The stars were paid, per episode, $75,000 in the third season, $85,0...

The Sitcoms of Norman Lear

McFarland. 2006 gbs preview - Friends - Chandler Bing

Archie Bunker, George Jefferson, Maude--the television sitcom world of the 1970s was peopled by the creations of Norman Lear. Beginning in 1971 with the premier of All in the Family, Lear's work gave sitcoms a new face and a new style. No longer were families perfect and lives in order. Mostly blue-collar workers and their families, Lear's characters argued, struggled, uttered sometimes shocking opinions and had no problem contributing to--or at least, acknowledging--the turmoil so shunned by 1960s television. Significantly, not only did Lear address difficult issues, but he did so through successful programming. Week after week, Americans tuned in to see the family adventures of the Bunkers, the Jeffersons, and Sanford and Son. With a thorough analysis of his sitcoms, this volume explores Norman Lear's memorable production career during the 1970s. It emphasizes how Lear's shows reflected the political and cultural milieu, and how they addressed societal issues including racism, child abuse and gun control. The casting, production and behind-the-screen difficulties of All in the Family, Sanford & Son, Maude, Good Times, The Jeffersons and One Day at a Time are discussed. Each show is examined from inception through series finale. Interviews with some of the actors and actresses such as Rue McClanahan of Maude and Marla Gibbs from The Jeffersons are included.
