CUSTOMER REVIEWS
I apologize if this is a long review but people must be informed. Prior to ordering this toy I read some of the reviews on Amazon. The "Helpful Reviews" and decided that of those "Helpful Reviews" the handful of bad experiences had to be isolated. After placing my order I became more concerned with those bad reviews. I decided to go back and read further and found that the "Helpful Reviews" were mostly dated in 2010 but that the current reviews, 2012, gave this toy the majority of the one star reviews it has received. I contacted Amazon because this is to be a gift for my daughter on her upcoming second birthday and wanted to avoid a poor experience. After explaining the situation to the representative with Amazon I decided to roll the dice and allow the product to ship with the understanding that Amazon would make right if this turned out poorly.I picked the box up this morning from our local post office and minutes upon opening it contacted Amazon to return it.I have a hard time claiming that the item is counterfeit but something clearly isn't right. After driving up to our local Wal-Mart and spending a little extra I now have both Buzz Lightyear toys in front of me for comparison. Both toys are supposedly manufactured by Thinkway Toys. The toy from Wal-Mart clearly has the logo and copyright information while the toy from Amazon has none. The plastic used for the toy from Amazon is clearly of a cheaper quality and the paint applications are very sloppy.I still have a hard time believing that so many varying sellers have counterfeit product within Amazon's warehouse but I stand by that this product is clearly inferior to what can currently be purchased off the toy shelves of your local Wal-Mart or Target for a few dollars more.

Just received ours and I have to hand it to the manufacturer and vendor. We are very impressed. With the detail on the manufacturer side, and with the packaging for shipping on the vendor side. My kids both LOVE this toy. They both took turns watching the movies and making buzz do exactly in sync with what was happening in the movie. The only complaint i have is how easily the dome pops open. I'm sure later on it won't stay closed after he's been well played with. The bubble wrap was expertly applied, and shipped surrounded by air bags in a large box. This thing could have survived falling off the truck at highway speeds.
Daddy in Dallas - August 23, 2017
Our two-year-old's favorite toy, hands down. The lines are very funny (watching him imitate Buzz choking and gagging after opening his helmet is always a hoot), the wings work well almost all the time (occasionally the flashing LED's don't kick off), and the helmet and other moving parts have held up well for many months. Definitely a good buy for kids who love Disney/Pixar.
BySteve Biedrzycki - July 24, 2014
We bought this for our son twice so far. He's three, and I figured the bigger toy would be better for a kiddo this age- He's rough with this toy, and it's survived damn near everything. Three stars because both times we've purchased this toy, pieces have come off and have had to be glued on, and the left arm in particular is very, very flimsily attached. Both toys have had the left arm break off, and there's no way to glue it back in place. If our kiddo didn't love Buzz so much, we wouldn't bother purchasing another.
Steve Biedrzycki - October 22, 2016
Purchased this for our nephew for his birthday - he doesn't stop talking about it!. It's so realistic, all of the little details add up to make it so much nicer than other buzz lightyear's. It comes in the same spaceship box from the movie, it has the same movable wings, and even had karate chop action! His foot has "andy" marked on it too.... JUST LIKE THE MOVIE in every possible way. For the same price as the cheapo versions at the disney store you can get this one instead that has all of extra features that make it that much cooler.
ByMonkeyfinger - June 17, 2016
I bought this action figure as a scale model for a costume so I am quite happy with the product for that purpose. Shipping was on time and the shipping packaging was fine.I do have a couple items to note about the condition upon receipt:1. The product box was lightly damaged - the cardboard had seen some wear and tear but was not so far from perfect that I'd care.2. The buzz lightyear unit has a couple stickers that are torn or coming off, so this is not quite "as described by seller" (perfectly new).I doubt a child would ever notice but as an adult it is readily apparent and seems strange especially since some of the stickers could not have been scuffed through the opening in the front of the package - it was probably a manufacturing quality control issue. The wings were not quite as easy to fold and keep closed as I imagined, but once I got the hang of it I think it's fine. The figure is also a bit wobbly on his feet, you have to carefully place the feet to ensure it won't fall over due to being top heavy. But, that said, it does stand on its own and every advertised feature works. The articulation of all the joints, the karate chop, the helmet opening/closing, the wings folding out and lighting up, and the voice commands are all just fine. So, this is perfect for my needs in terms of creating a full sized costume replica and honestly I think any child would still be quite satisfied with the playability and condition of the product even with the few issues.I think it's worth it for the price ($33.89).
Monkeyfinger - November 8, 2012
The only reason that I am reviewing this product is due to the poor product reviews based in 2012 regarding a knock-off product. Based on the submitted images, I can testify that I received a legitimate product, that wasn't off the quality described in the older reviews.I purchased from this seller, and received the superior product mentioned in the much older reviews. I assume that the seller got a bad batch at some point, and instead of cutting losses, sent out the bad product anyway. Regardless, I want people to know that the item I received roughly 18 December 2015 was a solid product. No complaints.

Deconstructing Disney

Pluto Press. 1999 gbs preview - Disney Advanced Talking Buzz Lightyear Action Figure 12" (Official Disney Product)

Demonising Disney is nothing new. Disney films have long been synonymous with a certain conservative, patriarchal, heterosexual ideology, occupying a centre-stage position at the heart of the evil empire. Deconstructing Disney takes issue with knee-jerk polarities, overturning classical oppositions and recognising that, just as the Disney ‘text’ has changed, so too must the terms of critical engagement. This book is a sharply focused deconstruction of the political culture — and the cultural politics — of the Disney canon in the years since the emergence of the so-called New World Order. Eleanor Byrne and Martin McQuillan offer a critical encounter with Disney which alternates between readings of individual texts and wider thematic concerns such as race, gender and sexuality, the broader context of American contemporary culture, and the global ambitions and insularity of the last great superpower. The movies discussed include The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Pocohontas, Snow White, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Dumbo, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, Hercules and Mulan.

The Animated Movie Guide

Chicago Review Press. 2005 gbs preview - Disney Advanced Talking Buzz Lightyear Action Figure 12" (Official Disney Product)

Going beyond the box-office hits of Disney and Dreamworks, this guide to every animated movie ever released in the United States covers more than 300 films over the course of nearly 80 years of film history. Well-known films such as Finding Nemo and Shrek are profiled and hundreds of other films, many of them rarely discussed, are analyzed, compared, and catalogued. The origin of the genre and what it takes to make a great animated feature are discussed, and the influence of Japanese animation, computer graphics, and stop-motion puppet techniques are brought into perspective. Every film analysis includes reviews, four-star ratings, background information, plot synopses, accurate running times, consumer tips, and MPAA ratings. Brief guides to made-for-TV movies, direct-to-video releases, foreign films that were never theatrically released in the U.S., and live-action films with significant animation round out the volume.

In Toys! are the fascinating stories behind these toy inventions and many others. Gamibots

Strategic Book Publishing & Rights Agency. 2014 gbs preview - Disney Advanced Talking Buzz Lightyear Action Figure 12" (Official Disney Product)

What are Gamibots? Gamibots is a new and unique craft for children. It is a twist on origami, by creating a robot out of paper. Gamibots originated when I was younger and my family didn’t have much money to spend on toys, so I created Gamibots out of paper to play with instead. The difference with Gamibots is that you can create more than one, even building an army to play with. Once they are destroyed, worn down, or deteriorated, they can be recreated again. When I was in third grade, my teacher was astonished by my creation. She gave me a portion of the day to teach my class to fold Gamibots for art class. Everyone was able to follow my step-by-step directions. Just recently, I did a test run showing Gamibots to children of different ages. They all loved it and were very curious. My target audience is nine years old and older. However, I also showed my product to toddlers, who loved it as well. Although toddlers may not be able to fold the paper perfectly, their parents can, and then they can play with the end product.
