CUSTOMER REVIEWS
This is adorable. And for the most part, well made. The "secret" compartments have become a way to play a hide and seek game which my 3 year old loves. I am slightly disappointed with two aspects though. First, the mushroom cap that covers a cubby does not stay on. It barely clips on, frustrating not only my toddler, but myself. I have a feeling this is not true with all models, and I may have received a slightly defective one. Second, there are not enough flowers to fill all the holes on the roof, as well as at the top of the vine inside (as the picture depicts!!). And the flowers that do exist, fall out easily of half of the holes (so I may end up just gluing them in) Life with a toddler is messy enough, to have to lose/find/step on these all the time. I'm aware these are tiny "nitpicky" things, but for what we pay for stuff like this, there shouldn't be any (even minor) problems if you ask me.

This is a really cute addition to Calico Critters Village! I got it for my 4 year old granddaughter for Christmas and it's the first toy she played with after opening everything. I got her two sets of the "baby' critters as the "adults don't fit inside. Her 2 year old cousin had a meltdown because he wanted to play too. I've gotten the girls (4yrs. and 6 yrs.) several of the buildings to the set. They are ridiculously expensive but neat and I think they have a lot of "play value" (Besides, I'm a grandma so it's an occupational hazard!) Wish they would make a "rug" with grass and roads so the kids could set up a village! Please note that there are no "critters" in this set- you have to get them separately!

Really cute but all the decorative flowers do not stay in at all. Like at all. I should have glued them...now they are here there and everywhere. Called the company for replacements and was denied that they have any.

My daughter isn't into the calico critters but she loves the littlest petshop characters. Unfortunately the houses and sets that come with them are flimsy and fall apart after they are built. Because of this she builds her own houses out of things from around our house.. shoe boxes, cloth from fabric, so once I saw the calico critter lodges, houses, furniture, I had to get as many of them as i could for her. She loves them and plays with her little village/town for hours at the dining room table. She now has this, the town home, the discovery forest, the adventure tree house, several of the bedroom sets (bunk beds, sister's loft, lavender bedroom, children's bedroom), the kitchen set, the deluxe living room, and parents bedroom set.

So cute! My daughter loves this you and playing with it. I wish it had been more clear in the wording, this only works with the baby calico critters not the regular sized ones very well. The triplet pack of kitten babies is perfect for this.

Bought this for my niece for Christmas 2015 - she loved it. It's the same good quality as all the Calico Critters products, and it's a nice, fun, whimsical tree for all the little animals. It's gotten a lot of use.

In 1986 Rita sold her possessions and became a nomad, living in a Zapotec village in Mexico, sleeping with sea lions on the Galapagos Islands, and residing everywhere from thatched huts to regal palaces. The Lost City of the Monkey God

The Lost City of the Monkey God

Grand Central Publishing. 2017 gbs preview - Calico Critters Baby Discovery Forest

The #1 New York Times and #1 Wall Street Journal bestseller! A five-hundred-year-old legend. An ancient curse. A stunning medical mystery. And a pioneering journey into the unknown heart of the world's densest jungle. Since the days of conquistador Hernán Cortés, rumors have circulated about a lost city of immense wealth hidden somewhere in the Honduran interior, called the White City or the Lost City of the Monkey God. Indigenous tribes speak of ancestors who fled there to escape the Spanish invaders, and they warn that anyone who enters this sacred city will fall ill and die. In 1940, swashbuckling journalist Theodore Morde returned from the rainforest with hundreds of artifacts and an electrifying story of having found the Lost City of the Monkey God-but then committed suicide without revealing its location. Three quarters of a century later, bestselling author Doug Preston joined a team of scientists on a groundbreaking new quest. In 2012 he climbed aboard a rickety, single-engine plane carrying the machine that would change everything: lidar, a highly advanced, classified technology that could map the terrain under the densest rainforest canopy. In an unexplored valley ringed by steep mountains, that flight revealed the unmistakable image of a sprawling metropolis, tantalizing evidence of not just an undiscovered city but an enigmatic, lost civilization. Venturing into this raw, treacherous, but breathtakingly beautiful wilderness to confirm the discovery, Preston and the team battled torrential rains, quickmud, disease-carrying insects, jaguars, and deadly snakes. But it wasn't until they returned that tragedy struck: Preston and others found they had contracted in the ruins a horrifying, sometimes lethal-and incurable-disease. Suspenseful and shocking, filled with colorful history, hair-raising adventure, and dramatic twists of fortune, THE LOST CITY OF THE MONKEY GOD is the absolutely true, eyewitness account of one of the great discoveries of the twenty-first century.

The Night Ocean

The Night Ocean

Penguin. 2017 gbs preview - Calico Critters Baby Discovery Forest

From the award-winning author and New Yorker contributor, a riveting novel about secrets and scandals, psychiatry and pulp fiction, inspired by the lives of H.P. Lovecraft and his circle. Marina Willett, M.D., has a problem. Her husband, Charlie, has become obsessed with H.P. Lovecraft, in particular with one episode in the legendary horror writer's life: In the summer of 1934, the "old gent" lived for two months with a gay teenage fan named Robert Barlow, at Barlow's family home in central Florida. What were the two of them up to? Were they friends--or something more? Just when Charlie thinks he's solved the puzzle, a new scandal erupts, and he disappears. The police say it's suicide. Marina is a psychiatrist, and she doesn't believe them. A tour-de-force of storytelling, The Night Ocean follows the lives of some extraordinary people: Lovecraft, the most influential American horror writer of the 20th century, whose stories continue to win new acolytes, even as his racist views provoke new critics; Barlow, a seminal scholar of Mexican culture who killed himself after being blackmailed for his homosexuality (and who collaborated with Lovecraft on the beautiful story "The Night Ocean"); his student, future Beat writer William S. Burroughs; and L.C. Spinks, a kindly Canadian appliance salesman and science-fiction fan -- the only person who knows the origins of The Erotonomicon, purported to be the intimate diary of Lovecraft himself. As a heartbroken Marina follows her missing husband's trail in an attempt to learn the truth, the novel moves across the decades and along the length of the continent, from a remote Ontario town, through New York and Florida to Mexico City. The Night Ocean is about love and deception -- about the way that stories earn our trust, and betray it.

Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science

Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science

Forge Books. 2007 gbs preview - Calico Critters Baby Discovery Forest

In this landmark work on a subject too often dismissed as paranormal or disreputable, Jeffrey Meldrum gives us the first book on sasquatch to be written by a scientist with impeccable academic credentials, an objective look at the facts in a field mined with hoaxes and sensationalism. Meldrum reports on the work of a team of experts from a wide variety of fields who were assembled to examine the evidence for a large, yet undiscovered, North American primate. He reviews the long history of this mystery--which long predates the "bigfoot" flap of the late fifties--and explains all the scientific pros and cons in a clear and accessible style, amplified by over 150 illustrations. Anyone who has pondered the mysteries of human evolution will be fascinated and eager to join Dr. Meldrum in drawing their own conclusion. At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

In this thrilling chapter in Faye Kellerman’s bestselling series, Rina Lazarus makes a shocking discovery in the woods of her upstate New York community that leads her husband, police detective Peter Decker, through a series of gruesome, decades old, unsolved murders, pointing to a diabolical, serial killer who’s been hiding in plain sight. On a bright and crisp September morning, while walking a bucolic woodland trail, Rina Decker stumbles upon human remains once buried deep beneath the forest grounds. Immediately, she calls her husband, Peter, a former detective lieutenant with LAPD, now working for the local Greenbury Police. Within hours, a vista of beauty and tranquility is transformed into a frenetic crime scene. The body has been interred for years and there is scant physical evidence at the gravesite: a youthful skeleton, a skull wound and long dark strands of hair surrounding the bony frame. As Decker and his partner, Tyler McAdams, further investigate, they realize that they’re most likely dealing with a missing student from the nearby Five Colleges of Upstate—a well-known and well-respected consortium of higher learning where Rina works. And when more human remains are found in the same area, Decker and McAdams know this isn’t just a one-off murder case. Short-staffed and with no convenient entry into the colleges, Decker enlists Rina’s help to act as the eyes and ears of campus gossip. Winding their way through a dangerous labyrinth of steely suspects and untouchable academics, Decker, McAdams, and Rina race to protect their community from a psychopathic killer still in the area—and on the hunt for a fresh victim.
